A young boy, Sōsuke, befriends a strange looking goldfish whom he names Ponyo. Unbeknownst to Sōsuke, Ponyo is a magic fish who has decided that she wants to live with Sōsuke and the other humans. Unfortunately, Ponyo's decision to give up her underwater life creates a crack in an ancient magic spell, and places the world in danger. Together, Sōsuke and Ponyo must set things right.

Background art director Kazuo Oga will be releasing his first film this summer, the 7th of July 2006 to be exact. Oga is famous for his background art direction and beautiful background art of movies like "Tonari no Totoro" (My Neighbor Totoro), "Heisei Tanuki Gassen Pon Poko" (PomPoko) and "Mononoke Hime" (Princess Mononoke).

Taneyamagahara no Yoru is based on the play with the same name by Kenji Miyazawa. Miyazawa wrote this play in 1924 for his students when he was a 28 year old teacher. The first supervision work of the film was built up with a technique which could be described as a "picture story show style".

The movie will be released together with Goro Miyazaki's "Gedo Senki" as a double feature.

Horus is a boy that one day, hunted by silver wolfs, found the sword of the sun. The day his father died he left his home to find the people from the town his father told him. Together with a small bear named Koro he start the journey an run into a great adventure fighting against Grunwald and his subordinates who wants to rule the world.

The production was ridden with problems, mainly due to the difficult union relationships between the artists and the company Toei Doga. The movie was released far beyond schedule, and kept in the theaters only for 10 days. Because of this, it bombed, and Takahata never directed for Toei again. However, the movie became immediately an underground hit among students and young anime artists, and is now widely considered the first modern anime

Two Ghibli created shorts about the happenings in fictional animation studio, presumably based to some extent on their own. The first was aired during a TV special about Ghibli, the second shown in theatres alongside 'The Cat Returns'. Note that the animation studio in these shorts is not spelled ジブリ (hepburn: 'jiburi'), but ギブリ (hepburn: 'giburi'), so pronounced with the hard 'gi' of 'give' rather than the 'ji' of 'jigsaw' used for Ghibli.

The story revolves in Ancient China when the Emperor died, his son becomes emperor and must seek candidates to be his wife also known as the Emperor's "Seihi".

Word spread throughout the country putting attention to all the women who are interested in being the Emperor's wife. Ginga, a enthusiastic village girl wants to earn the Seihi title and live an easy life.
Mano of the Eunuchs approved Ginga because she has a good figure. Only problem is she doesn't act much like a well behave lady. Mano tells her that in order for her to be the Emperor's wife she must have manners like a lady. So she attends the school with the other candidates who also want to be the Emperor's wife.
They don't know what he looks like, so that way they'd study hard enough to see him face to face. But would a girl like Ginga be able to accomplish the title of "Seihi" greater than anything else? This movie is mistaken for a Ghibli movie because the character designs are similar to Katsuya Kondou's work who was involved in Miyazaki's works. And Ginga is considered to be the Chinese version of Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service. The sad thing is this title isn't well known to international countries. And very few people know it exists.
Probably because the story has little character development on the extra characters. And it's a TV movie that aired in Japan of 1990. It may not be close to being as perfect as a Miyazaki movie. But it does have some good moments to it including some humor and and well done animation.

Totoro is a forest spirit that little Mei, and later her older sister Satsuki, encounter in a giant camphor tree near their new home in the countryside. Humanity, in its hubris, has precipitated an ecological disaster. Flourishing industrial civilizations have been swallowed up and Earth is covered by the Sea of Corruption, an enormous forest of fungi that releases a miasma of poisonous spores into the air.

Note: technically speaking this is not done by studio Ghibli as that was founded 1985. However, the beginning of the studio can be dated back to 1983, when Tokuma Shoten (Tokuma Publishing, Co., Ltd) decided to produce "Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind". After the success of "Nausicaa", Tokuma and Miyazaki decided to make their second movie, "Laputa", and they established Studio Ghibli. The work credit for Nausicaa is given to Top Craft (トップクラフト) instead.

The story concerns Goshu, a professional cellist. During rehearsals for a performance, he is scolded by the conductor because his playing is not good enough. His timing is off and he seems to have no "feel" for the music.

Goshu returns to his lonely cottage and starts practicing. Enter a cat who tricks him into understanding the inner meaning of the music. The importance of practice is shown by a cuckoo, rhythm by a badger and tenderness by a mouse. In four days he learns the true meaning and feeling of music and develops into a great musician.

Laced with popular classical music this special combines fun and inspiration for all ages and audiences.

Jarinko Chie is a movie directed by Takahata in 1981. Based on the very popular manga by Etsumi HARUKI, it is about ten year old Chie, "the most unfortunate girl in Japan", who manages her family diner while her unemployed yakuza father and her mother are separated. This sounds really depressing, but it's actually a very funny comedy.

The story is set in Osaka, which has a totally different culture from Tokyo. After the success of the movie, a TV series was made, and Takahata worked as the chief director.

Goro Miyazaki's debute feature as director, Tales from Earthsea is an epic adventure, adapted from the much-loved series of novels by Ursula K. Le Guin.

It tells the story of Ged (voiced in English by Timothy Dalton), the most powerful wizard in Earthsea, and his attempts to protect Prince Arren (Matt Levin) from the evil machinations of rival wizard Cob (Willem Dafoe). Only Yesterday revolves around Taeko, a single woman working a desk job in Tokyo in 1982, taking a vacation in the countryside with the family of her sister in-law. During her vacation, Taeko finds herself looking back at her time as a young schoolgirl growing up in 1966. The film flips back and forth between the two time periods with a lot of nostalgia and beautiful country scenery as Taeko sorts out her flashbacks and tries to make some tough decisions about her future.
